On May 25, 2009, the community Arnoldstein issued the building permit for comprehensive thermal renovation of the elementary school St. Leonhard with the aim of achieving passive house standard. In addition to renovation work in the building, this included the renovation of the roof and the wrapping of the entire building with a superior facade with about 30 cm insulation thickness. The result is documented in the final report to the German Climate and Energy Fund and shows a reduction of the annual energy costs from T € 23 before the refurbishment to T € 2.1 after the refurbishment, ie by more than 90%.
