KULTBOX AS A NEW CENTRAL POINT

With its new cultural centre, Mörtschach not only has a new event hall, but is also host to the winner of the Holzbaupreis Carinthia 2015. The Kultbox offers a modern counterpart to the opposite Schmutzerhaus, the oldest building in the municipality. The façade of silver fir was stained dark. The interior in contrast is decorated with light, local spruce and fir wood with white walls. The large windows allow views of the vast valley, the surrounding mountains and the town centre.
The modern, simple wooden building can accommodate 250 people and represents a sustainable change to the village.
